Joseph Ponsetto began his legal career in 1982 by distinguishing himself as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Mr. Ponsetto’s assignments included extensive experience in the Appellate and Criminal Divisions along with supervising the Election Fraud Unit. In 1985, Mr. Ponsetto joined the Illinois Attorney General’s Office where he remained until 2008, rising to the position of Bureau Chief of Special Prosecutions for the State of Illinois. From 2009 through 2012, Mr. Ponsetto served the Village of Maywood as Assistant Village Manager and Village Prosecutor serving a nine-month term as Interim Village Manager. Mr. Ponsetto currently provides in-house pro bono legal services to the Proviso Leyden Council for Community Action, a prominent social service agency in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. Mr. Ponsetto joined the Law Offices of Peter M. DeLongis, Ltd. in an of counsel capacity specializing in commercial litigation, personal injury, criminal defense, and government/municipal law.
